Subcategories

Fisheries Intern

Assist with aquatic monitoring such as impact assessments, environmental monitoring, habitat assessment, and habitat planning. It could also include water quality testing, field surveys, and analyzing data and writing reports.

Forestry Technician

Assist with gathering information on woodland conditions and wildlife, conducting conservation projects, and monitoring forest resources. This position could include examining trees for disease or bug infestations, surveying, analyzing soil, and locating wildlife habitat.

Geomatics Technology Intern

Assist with spatial mapping through field surveys, recording measurements, and calculating and analyzing data. This position could also include learning to operate instruments and technology such as GPS, GNSS and AutoCAD.

Land Management Support Intern

Assist with managing and maintaining land owned/leased by the Province, companies, or communities such as land conservation, planning, upkeep, restoration, and improvements. It could also include consultation, preparing reports, liaising with stakeholders, maintaining lease agreements, and following regulations.

Outdoor Guide Intern

Assist with organizing outdoor recreation activities such as fishing, boating, hunting, rafting, hiking, or ecotourism. This position could include assisting with planning itineraries, arranging transportation, assembling equipment and supplies, obtaining land use permits, providing information to clients, and ensuring clients are safe and have a positive experience.

Silviculturist

Assist with controlling the growth, health and quality of woodlands for use as wildlife habitat, timber, water resources, restoration, and recreation. This position could include planting, prescribed burning, thinning, seed cone collecting, and conservation. This position could include use of technologies such as GPS.

Water Management Technician Intern

Assist with managing and maintaining water managed by the Province, companies, or communities such as measuring water flow and turbidity, recording water levels, collecting water samples, and interpreting maps and data. It could also include water conservation, consultation, preparing reports, liaising with stakeholders, and following regulations.

Water Wastewater Operator

Assist with monitoring and operating control systems and equipment in water and wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems and storm water conveyance systems.

Wildlife Management Intern

Assist with protecting, preserving and managing wildlife resources such as providing information and programs to the public, conducting wildlife inventories, and collecting samples. The position may also include consultation, preparing reports, liaising with stakeholders, and following regulations.
