ARCA Roofing Training Opportunity

Are you interested in exploring a career in the roofing or building trades? The Alberta Roofing Contractors Association (ARCA) is offering a hands-on training program designed to help students gain the foundational skills and knowledge needed to enter the roofing industry.

From March 23 to April 2, students aged 18+ who are in RAP or the U21 program are invited to participate in a nine-day employment training program that combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on experience. Led by experienced roofing professionals and ARCA staff, this program will introduce students to the tools, safety practices, and core concepts used in the roofing trade.

Program Details

  • Dates: March 23 – April 2

  • Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily (includes a 1-hour lunch break)

  • Format: Classroom instruction and hands-on training

  • Instructors: Experienced roofing professionals and ARCA staff

Training Topics

Participants will gain exposure to key areas of the roofing trade, including:

  • Orientation to roofing

  • Safety practices

  • Power tools and ladder safety

  • Roofing systems

  • Kettle and hoist awareness and safety

ARCA is looking to select 10–12 students who are interested in learning more about roofing and gaining real-world experience in the trade.

A Direct Path to Employment

Students who complete this training will be guaranteed interviews at ARCA’s U21 Hiring Draft on April 7, where roofing employers will be actively recruiting. This creates a strong opportunity for students to be hired on the spot for upcoming positions, making this an excellent pathway for those interested in starting a career in the building trades.

If you’re curious about the roofing industry and want to gain hands-on experience while connecting with potential employers, this training program is a great place to start.
