Student Safety in the Workplace
You can expect from your employer to provide you with safety orientations and training as needed for your job, help you understand and identify any hazards you may encounter, make sure you understand what safety measures you must take, and provide a safety management system to report and investigate unsafe conditions and behavior. The employer expects of you to behave safely, understand your safety obligations, focus on your job without distractions, report unsafe conditions and behavior, and follow company safety rules. And it is important that you have the confidence to ask questions, engage in conversations about safety, notify when you notice or observe unsafe behavior and say ‘No’ to work that is unsafe or you don’t feel comfortable to perform. You have every right to do so.
Safe behavior is not just something you learn, it is something you do to protect yourself and your co-workers. At the end of the day, everyone wants to go home to their family and friends healthy and without injuries.
